Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
