British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
