The distinguished UK star Helen Mirren, currently recipient of an Oscar, several BAFTA honors, Globes trophies, five Emmys, along with a Tony Award, is set to add another prestigious accolade to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, eighty, formerly made a dame back in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will receive the award during a presentation on 8 January, three days before the primary Globes ceremony take place, during a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as the “Golden Eve”.

Also part of the event will be the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for TV work, the recipient of which has yet to be announced. Last year’s winners were Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, with a career is truly remarkable,” stated the organization’s president, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft persistently influence generations of artists and fans too. We are deeply honored to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Notable Roles

The star became well-known back in the 70s with key roles on stage in London’s theater district and with the RSC as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Other important films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her performance as the Queen in 2006 film The Queen, a role she revisited during 2013 for The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings between the queen and prime minister Thatcher, and for which Mirren won a Tony during 2015.

Latest Works and Future Roles

• Subsequent cinematic works include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Mirren’s turn in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and awards buzz is building about her portrayal as an ailing family head in Kate Winslet’s initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• Upcoming, she will appear in the role of Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations are set to be revealed on 8 December, featuring Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
