Kai Trump will have multiple prominent backers when she makes her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.

The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of a former US president, was granted a special exemption to participate at Florida's Annika event in Florida.

Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, owns multiple international courses and often plays against his granddaughter.

"He's fairly competent. I can't say much but we have competitive games," she revealed.

The golfer shared that Trump, unable to come, told her: "Just don't get nervous."

"My grandpa essentially advised me to play and enjoy myself," she explained.

"In my eyes, he's just a regular grandfather. He's not attending this weekend. He's focused on world affairs, so he's rather occupied."

As an amateur, Kai has competed in just three tournaments recently and has position 461 in AJGA listings.

Yet she can get advice from Tiger Woods, in a relationship with Kai's mother.

"He is the best player globally," Kai stated.

"And he's an even better individual. He advised me to play, enjoy myself, adapting to the flow."

Kai will face several the biggest names in the sport at the Annika, such as world number two the champion, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

Tournament organizers commented that involving Kai helps introduce the sport to new audiences, specifically with the next generation.

The young star has a massive following and has started a personal clothing and lifestyle label.

Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
