The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The campaign hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
